My life story in a nutshell goes something like this: High school girl goes above and beyond when it comes to beautifying any and every school assignment that comes across her desk. Girl decides to go the route of private Art School, excels at design and graduates with Honors. Girl dives head first into the creative field absorbing everything she can about the industry. Fast forward several years and girl comes down with a severe case of wanderlust and decides to pack her bags and move to the epicentre of Europe – London. Now I’m back in my home and native land and ready to establish myself all over again.
God bless the people that handle wedding planning as their profession because that field has to be one of the most stressful ones around. Juggling a dozen projects in a day at the office as a busy designer suddenly seems like the equivalent of a lazy Saturday when compared to the many details my poor friend Brookes had to take into consideration in the twelve months leading up to her nuptials that took place just a few weeks ago. But, who am I to complain? Acting as bridesmaid/pro-bono designer, I technically had all the fun jobs as I was given free reign to style the wedding stationery and supporting elements. Taking my inspiration from the casual, backyard setting for this summer wedding I went with natural textures like kraft paper, burlap and lace for the invites and pulled that through everything else.
